Walker decided to make a story of cutout characters with a classic saving a princess from the dragon trope. He chose to use cutouts to show like most fantasy, it isn’t real, only based on real things. This choice is represented by the main character's being cutouts but the ogre being real, to show that some elements that might seem false are true. He decided to not show the battles between characters and leave it up to the viewer’s imagination so they can enjoy the piece like nobody else ever has. He also decided to have the dragon and Knight made of the same material to show that there is always something connecting two opposing sides. He also wonders if we are just characters in a fairytale too.
